Papamanawa o ka Lā

Most Pūnana Leo are open from 7:15 a.m. to 4:00 or 5:00 p.m., however, some sites may open at a different time. Please check with the site kahu for exact operating hours.

Students must arrive by 8:30 a.m. Snack time may vary according to site and daily events.

Pūnana Leo (not including Maui) participate in the U.S.D.A. Food and Nutrition Lunch Program. Please see kahu for program application and pricing.

7:15 – 8:30 Hō‘ea i ka Pūnana Leo (Arrive at Pūnana Leo). Hana ma nā honuanua (Work in learning centers).
8:30 – 8:50  Ho‘omau ma nā honuanua (Continue in learning centers).
8:50 – 9:00 Ho‘iho‘i a ho’omākaukau no ka Piko (Put things away and prepare for Piko)
9:00 – 9:20 Piko Pūnana Leo (Morning Gathering)

Oli, Pule, Hīmeni (Chant, prayer, & singing of hymn/song)

‘Alemanaka (Read the calendar {Lunar & Roman}, observe the weather, and discuss daily events)
9:20 – 9:30 Ho‘omākaukau no ka ‘ai māmā (Prepare for snack). Ho‘opau pilikia, hōloi lima (Bathroom, Hand washing)
9:30 – 9:45 ‘Ai Māmā (Snack)

Pule (Prayer)
9:45 – 10:30  Ha‘awina/Hana ma nā honuanua (Daily lesson/ Work in learning centers).
10:30 – 10:40 Ho’iho’i a Ho’omākaukau no ka wā pā’ani (Put things away and prepare for recess).
10:40 – 11:15   Wā Pā‘ani (Recess).
11:15 – 11:25 Holoi Lima, Inu Wai (Hand washing, Drink water).
11:30 – 12:15  Pā‘ina Awakea (Lunch).
12:15 – 12:30

Ho‘omākaukau no ka wā hiamoe (Prepare for naptime).

Ho‘opau pilikia, Holoi lima, Palaki niho (Bathroom, Hand washing, Brushing of teeth)

12:30 – 2:30   Wā Hiamoe (Naptime).
2:30 – 2:40  Ho‘iho‘i a ho‘omākaukau no ka Piko (Put things away and prepare for Piko).
2:40 – 3:00 Piko Pūnana Leo (Afternoon Gathering)

Mana‘o Pani & Hīmeni (Closing thoughts & Sing songs)

Pule Ho‘oku‘u/Mea‘ai Māmā (Closing prayer of the day and for the snack)
3:00 – 3:15 ‘Ai Māmā (Snack).
3:15 – 3:45  Hana no‘eau a i ‘ole ma nā honuanua
(Arts/Crafts or work in learning centers).
3:45 – 3:55  Ho‘opau pilikia, Hōloi lima, Inu wai
(Bathroom, Hand washing, Drink water).
3:55 – 5:00 Wā Pā‘ani (Recess).
