Online Language Classes:
Niuolahiki Distance Learning
‘Aha Pūnana Leo is proud to announce the start of Hawaiian Language classes on the web. In conjunction with its consortium partner, Ka Haka ‘Ula O Ke‘elikōlani College of Hawaiian Language of the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo, the ‘Aha Pūnana Leo began teaching classes in January 2006. Coursework is based on the textbook Nā Kai ‘Ewalu, written by William H. “Pila” Wilson and Kauanoe Kamanā.
Lessons for the classes have been formatted for delivery on the Hawaiian Language intranet, Leokī. The Leokī client is free, as are the fonts, Hawaiian Keyboard and other resources students will need. The language classes are appropriate for adults residing in Hawai‘i or worldwide.
Applications are accepted year around. We invite you to fill out an online application and we will notify you via email when the next enrollment period begins. For more information, please check out the Online Hawaiian Language FAQ.
